The Central Cariboo Recreation Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity to the City of Williams Lake and the Central Cariboo Joint Committee with respect to the development of recreation facilities and delivery of recreation services in the Central Cariboo Service Area.
The Committee also acts in an advisory capacity to city Council with respect to development and operations of City of Williams Lake parks and recreation facilities.
The Committee provides recommendations and advice to ensure that all programs, facilities and services meet the needs of citizens and contribute to or support the efforts of other organizations in the provision of sports, leisure and recreation opportunities.
The Committee provides recommendations to Joint Committee with respect to the Capital and Operating budgets for the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex and Recreation Services Function.
The Committee acts as a citizen’s sounding board to the Director of Recreation Services regarding the day to day delivery of programs and services.
The Committee will assist in conducting surveys of recreation facilities and programs in the Central Cariboo Service Area.
The Committee hosts an annual Central Cariboo Recreation Services Forum involving all recreation and sport organizations, agencies and interested citizens. The purpose is to make Committee members, elected officials and staff aware of the sport and recreation needs and issues in the Central Cariboo.
The Committee will appoint one member of the Committee as a liaison to attend each of the following advisory groups and committees.
- Stampede Park Advisory Committee
- Esler Advisory Committee
- Other Committees deemed necessary by Joint Committee or Council
